Five Bobcat Football Players Earn Capital One Football Academic All-District Honors

 

 

(Peru, Neb.) – Five Peru State Bobcat football players were named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team which was announced on Thursday by CoSIDA and Capital One.

Earning NAIA District 28 honors this year were Mitch Boshart (Wood River), Tyler Ford (Lincoln), Logan Paben (Columbus), Zach Lempka (Sterling), and Derrick Davis (Orange Park, Fla.). In football, players are selected by position.

Student-athletes are nominated by current members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) which is a national organization comprised of the sports public relations, communications and information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. This year CoSIDA completely revamped their districts and grouped more states into districts, making them larger, but much more competitive. There were 85 nominees in the district this fall.

In order to be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in either their undergrad or graduate work. As part of the voting process, information regarding a nominee's academic and athletic accomplishments is considered, as are any career highlights.

All five will be playing this weekend as the Bobcats host Evangel University at Pioneer Field in Neb. City with game time scheduled for 1 p.m.
