Country music sensation Florida Georgia Line to perform at Peru State Friday, April 12

(Peru, Neb.) Country music sensation Florida Georgia Line, best known for their chart-topping hit single Cruise, will be in concert at 10 p.m. Friday, April 12 in Peru State College’s (PSC) Al Wheeler Activity Center (AWAC).

Tickets for the event are $15 and can be purchased at beginning at 12 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25. Space is limited. Doors open at 7 p.m. Opening act Chase Rice takes the stage at 9 p.m.

The event is general admission. Purses and bags will not be allowed into the event. Information about parking and transportation will be sent to ticket holders via e-mail. Alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited. All other college policies apply and will be enforced.

The concert is being sponsored by the Peru State Campus Activities Board (CAB), the college’s programming board devoted to planning and executing events to engage students in campus life.

CAB President Jessica Merrill, a sophomore business administration-marketing major from Murray, said, “We are so excited to have the opportunity to bring a performer of this caliber to Peru State. Having Florida Georgia Line perform on our campus will be an amazing experience for our students, employees and community members.”

Student Activities Coordinator Chelsea Allgood said, “Peru State focuses on making the student experience as engaging as possible. Having outstanding performers like Florida Georgia Line on campus is just one example of this philosophy. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a headlining act has appeared on the Campus of a Thousand Oaks. Cheap Trick and Joan Jett have also rocked Peru!”

The duo that comprise Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have opened for artists like Jake Owen, Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford. They also earned a coveted spot on the 2012 Country Throwdown Tour with the likes of Gary Allan, Rodney Atkins and Justin Moore.

Florida Georgia Line’s hit single Cruise is an infectious anthem to love in its first magic moments. The first offering from their five-song EP It’z Just What We Do, Cruise brings their trademark harmonies and rocking sound to bear on a tale of youthful attraction, music and Georgia back roads. The song is produced by Joey Moi, whose credits range from Jake Owen to Nickelback.

Florida Georgia Line has combined electrifying, hard-driving rock with honest, expressive lyrics into one of the most exciting sounds in all of country music. They’ve come a long way since their days as students at Nashville’s Belmont University, where they played local clubs and wrote songs between classes. They drew on an eclectic mix of influences, from country to hip-hop, with one common element: “All of our idols create great music that’s real and that everyone can relate to,” Kelley said. “That’s the same kind of music we want to make.”

It’s music they enjoy making as much as their fans enjoy hearing—and they are appreciative for the rapidly growing fan base supporting them.
