Bellevue West, Wahoo Bishop Neumann, Norris, Pawnee City and Sabetha High Schools Take Top Honors at 41st Annual Peru State Show Choir Festival
(Peru, Neb.) Five Nebraska high school show choirs were selected from among 28 groups from across the region as best in their respective classes following Peru State College’s (PSC) 41st Annual Show Choir Festival.
Winning show choirs include:
Class AA: Bellevue West’s West Connection
Director: Janelle Reetz
Class A: Norris High School’s Norris Gold
Director: Wes Hansmeyer
Class B: Sabetha (Kan.) High School’s Odyssey
Director: Vicki Angell
Class C: Wahoo Bishop Neumann’s Scarlet Knights
Director: Kirk Brown
Class D: Pawnee City High School’s Showstoppers
Director: Kristi Robison
Groups were judged by guest clinician and adjudicator Annette Layman, an experienced choral director and show choir expert from North Carolina. Layman has extensive experience with show choirs and has choreographed and adjudicated for more than 200 schools and other educational organizations, including the Brightleaf Music Workshop in North Carolina, Show Choir Camps of America, the Southern Utah Performing Arts Festival, FAME Events of Arizona and the Butler Summer Showcase in Kansas. She is the founder and director of Arts Mission, an organization dedicated to enriching lives through the positive impact of the arts.
PSC Professor of Music Dr. Thomas Ediger, director of choral activities and event coordinator, said, “We are always pleased to welcome area high school show choirs to our campus and give them an opportunity to work with professional clinicians/adjudicators. This was another very successful festival for Peru State.”
