Grotrian-Ryan named Nebraska PBL Adviser of the Year, honored at national conference
(Peru, Neb.) Dr. Sheri Grotrian-Ryan, Peru State College (PSC) associate professor of business and Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) faculty adviser, was recently honored as a National Adviser of the Year at the organization’s National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas. PBL is a state and national business association.
Grotrian-Ryan was previously named Nebraska PBL’s Adviser of the Year. Under her leadership, three Peru State students earned national championships at the competition and seven placed in the top 10.
Nebraska PBL State Adviser Ted Harshbarger said, “This is the second time Dr. Grotrian-Ryan has been named the Nebraska PBL Adviser of the Year. Her local chapter members are grateful for the leadership and direction she provides. As state adviser, I am appreciative of Sheri’s willingness to jump in and assist in whatever manner is needed, including presenting at the national level along with her husband, Kyle. Their willingness to assist our state chapter and the national association is commendable. This is a much-deserved honor.”
Grotrian-Ryan said, “Knowing this honor starts with a nomination from the students makes it all the more meaningful. The students are who continue to make this organization a success, and guiding and mentoring such a wonderful group of individuals is gratifying. I look forward to continued student commitment and achievement as part of such a wonderful academic organization.”
Grotrian-Ryan has served as managing editor of the Human Resource Development Review Journal, a global publication devoted to theoretical manuscripts relating to human resource development. She has also assisted with the National Council of Instructional Administrators’ (NCIA) Program Initiatives.
In addition to her teaching and advising duties at Peru State, Grotrian-Ryan serves as a consultant for several local organizations, including MDS PharmaServices in Lincoln where she works directly with the Global Clinical Training & Development Department. With that work, she assisted with the development and standardization of training programs for their locations around the world. She also conducts learning/development training sessions with Nebraska Public Power District/Cooper Nuclear Station employees.
Grotrian-Ryan has presented lectures for the Institute of Behavioral and Applied Management, Women in Educational Leadership, Academy of Human Resource Development, Marketing Management Association, Nebraska Career Education, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Student Research and Nebraska State College System. She is a member of the Marketing Management Association, Academy of Human Resource Development, and the Institute of Behavioral and Applied Management.
Grotrian-Ryan completed her Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2012. Her area of emphasis is educational leadership in higher education with a concentration in human resource development. She holds an MBA with a focus on strategic management from UNL and a bachelor’s degree in business administration-marketing and management from Peru State.
