Peru State choirs to perform public concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19

 

(Peru, Neb.) The Peru State College (PSC) Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and Misty Blues Show Choir will perform a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 in the College Theatre. There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

 

Under the direction of PSC Music Professor and Director of Choral Activities Dr. Thomas Ediger, the Concert Choir will open the program with a variety of musical selections, including Awake the Harp by Haydn, Choose Something Like a Star by Randall Thompson, and two pieces by Stephen Foster, Gentle Annie and Ring, Ring, the Banjo.  Laurie Schulte of Auburn will serve as pianist.

 

The Madrigal Singers, also directed by Ediger, will continue the program with a variety of traditional madrigals, rounds and chansons. Among the Madrigal Singers’ musical selections are In the Merry Spring by Thomas Ravenscroft, So Ben Mi Cha Bon Tempo (Come Now Let us Be Joyful) by Orazio Vecchi and All Ye Who Music Love by Baldassare Donato.

 

The Misty Blues Show Choir, under the direction of PSC Music Instructor Charlotte Shields, will conclude the program with a variety of popular musical styles, including Steam Heat, You Don't Own Me, Africa and Drift Away. Kathleen Knebel is the pianist for Misty Blues.
