Peru State’s 39th Annual Business Contest Set for Wednesday, Feb. 15
(Peru, Neb.) Students from high schools in Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas will compete for scholarships and awards at Peru State College’s (PSC) 39th Annual High School Business Contest on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
The day will begin with a general assembly at 8 a.m. An awards ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 1 p.m. in the College Theatre.
Business Professor and Contest Director Dr. Judy Grotrian said, “This contest has been an enormous success for the past four decades because of the cooperation and support of the entire Peru State community and because of the support and collaboration of all of the high schools that attend. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many more years to come.”
Competitions will be held in 15 different disciplines, including accounting, advanced accounting, business communications, business law, business math, computer concepts, economics, entrepreneurship, introduction to business, job interview, keyboarding objective, keyboarding skills, marketing, personal finance and Web page design.
First-place winners in each of the 15 categories will receive $500 tuition scholarships (for on-campus classes) to PSC. The college’s One Rate, Any State program allows all students, regardless of residency, to pay in-state tuition rates. Medals will also be awarded to first through fifth-place winners in each contest.
Participating high schools include Auburn, Deshler, Douglas County West, Falls City, Heartland Community, HTRS, Johnson-Brock, Johnson County Central, Platteview, Sabetha (Kan.), Sterling, Syracuse, Tarkio (Mo.), Tri-County and Waverly.
