Free Welcome Back Bash & Tailgate Set for Aug. 28, Surrounding Communities Invited to Attend
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College (PSC) invites area residents to help welcome students back to campus at a Welcome Back Bash & Tailgate beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. The day also celebrates the kick-off of the college’s Higher Learning Commission Self Study for renewed accreditation.
All events are free and open to the public.
The day’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. on the campus green near T.J. Majors with a variety of activities for young and old, including human bowling, a Velcro wall, photo booth, face painting, airbrush tattoos, caricatures by renowned cartoonist and PSC alum Paul Fell, a cash grab, bounce house for children, prizes and more.
A tailgate featuring burgers, brats, cotton candy, funnel cakes, snow cones and much more will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the campus green near the Library. Local band Gladys Kravitz will be on hand to entertain the crowd.
At 1 p.m. everyone is invited to the Oak Bowl to watch the Bobcat football team take on Concordia University (Seward, Neb.), the first game of the season.
President Dan Hanson said, “The Welcome Back Bash & Tailgate is an opportunity for us to celebrate the beginning of another successful year at Peru State College and to thank our surrounding communities for their unwavering support of this institution and our students. I invite all of our neighbors to come to campus, meet our students and staff, and have some fun!”

10 a.m.-2 p.m. - Carnival, T.J. Majors Green
11 a.m.-1 p.m. - Tailgate, Library Green
1 p.m. - Football vs. Concordia University, Oak Bowl
*In the event of rain, the tailgate will be held in the Al Wheeler Activity Center.
