Guest Pianist Momoro Ono to Perform at Peru State Tuesday, April 20
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College (PSC) will host the recital of guest pianist Momoro Ono at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20 in the College Theatre, located at the south end of Hoyt Science Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Ono’s program will feature music by Johannes Brahms and Haydn as well as the selections Kreisleriana by Robert Schumann and Three Movements from Petrouchka by Igor Stravinsky.
Ono has served as a piano instructor at Creighton University since 2005. He has also collaborated with choir and dance groups in the university’s Fine & Performing Arts Department on productions of Chicago, Side by Side and West Side Story. Ono has performed abroad in Canada, Scotland and Japan in chamber music as well as a soloist. In May, Ono will fly to Seoul, Korea, to perform and teach a master class at Seoul National University.
Ono received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Juilliard School as a recipient of the Petschek Piano Scholarship, where he studied with Adele Marcus. He holds an Artist's Diploma and Doctorate from the Peabody Conservatory where he studied with Leon Fleisher under full scholarship.
