38th Annual Show Choir Competition Set for Oct. 27-28 at Peru State College
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College (PSC) will host its 38th Annual Show Choir Festival on campus Tuesday, Oct. 27 through Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Performances are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. on Wednesday in the College Theatre. Twenty-six show choirs from Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas will participate. Awards will be presented for the best show choir in each class. All performances are free and open to the public.
Dr. Thomas Ediger, director of PSC Choral Activities and professor of music, said, “Every year this event brings high school musicians to the Peru State College campus to try out their new choreography and music in a clinic/competition environment. We are excited to welcome this year’s guest clinician and adjudicator Paul Gulsvig, an experienced choral director and show choir expert from Onalaska, Wisconsin, who will work with each group individually.”
PSC’s show choir the Misty Blues, under the direction of Dr. Ediger, will also perform at 1:30 p.m. both days. The group is accompanied by PSC students David Norris of Beatrice on piano, Tristan Bassinger of Julian on bass and Phillip Chinske of Tinley Park, Ill., on drums. Others in assistant roles include teacher/choreographer Joel Johnston of Omaha and light and sound technicians Jacob Acers of LaVista and Kenneth Edwards of Humboldt, both PSC students.
