Peru State to Host Competition for Southeast NE Entrepreneurs Friday, Oct. 9
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College (PSC) will host the Southeast Nebraska New Venture Competition on campus at 1 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 9 in the Bur Oak Room of the Student Center.
The Southeast Nebraska New Venture Competition is the regional portion of a larger statewide contest, the “East 2 West – The Nebraska New Venture Competition,” being sponsored by Invest Nebraska in conjunction with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development.
The Southeast Nebraska portion of the event is being sponsored by PSC, the Invest Nebraska Corporation and Southeast Nebraska Partners for Progress. The winner will be eligible to collect up to $20,000 in equity investment for a new venture start-up or business expansion and will also be eligible to compete against winners from other regions of the state for a $50,000 prize during a final competition Dec. 11 at the DelRay Ballroom in Lincoln.
Those eligible to participate include any start-up or existing business owner already located in, or willing to locate to, the southeast region of Nebraska, including the counties of Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee and Richardson.
During the competition on Friday, a number of preselected applicants will make pitch presentations to a panel of judges composed of local and regional business leaders. The panel will then select the most promising business plan, and the winner will be awarded a $20,000 cash investment in exchange for a minority stake in the proposed or existing company.
