PSC Professor Dan Holtz to Be Featured Performer at Missouri River History Conference Friday, Sept. 5
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College English Professor Dr. Dan Holtz will be the featured performer at an evening banquet held in conjunction with the second Missouri River History Conference on Friday, Sept. 5.
The conference will be held Thursday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 7 at Ponca State Park in northeast Nebraska. The event is co-sponsored by the Nebraska State Historical Society, the Nebraska Games and Parks Commission, the National Park Service, the Missouri River Institute of the University of South Dakota and the Better Ponca (Nebraska) Foundation.
Conference topics include the fur trade, steamboat wrecks and steamboat travel on the Missouri River. Holtz will present his “Nebraska through Song and Story” program, which touches on some of these topics.
Holtz has presented programs all across Nebraska for the last 12 years through the sponsorship of the Nebraska Humanities Council. He is also currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Historical Society.
