Peru State College to Host Second Annual Southeast Nebraska Regional Economic Development Summit
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College will host economic development leaders from the area tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 12, during the second annual Southeast Nebraska Regional Economic Development Summit.
The Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lower level of the T.J. Majors Building. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The event is being coordinated by the River Country Economic Development Corporation in collaboration with the Auburn Development Council, Tecumseh Economic Development, Rural Enterprise Assistance Project, Southeast Nebraska EDGE and a number of other southeast Nebraska partners.
Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy is scheduled to address attendees at 9:15 a.m. PSC President and Nebraska State College System Chancellor Stan Carpenter will deliver remarks at the noon luncheon.
The summit is being held to reexamine economic and environmental issues experienced across southeast Nebraska regarding population and workforce recruitment; entrepreneurship; business development, transition and succession; youth and leadership development; and water issues and opportunities.
The group will also share accomplishments resulting from initiatives which followed the 2007 Summit and provide information about programs across the state that have helped other areas address many similar concerns.
