Peru State Hosts NSCS Faculty College
(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College (PSC) recently hosted faculty members from its two sister institutions, Chadron State College and Wayne State College, for the 2nd Annual Nebraska State College System Faculty College.
The two-day program, titled “Strength through Collaboration,” allowed approximately 35 faculty and administrators from the three colleges to share best practices. The hope is that the group’s discussions will lead not only to better teaching, but also to better learning for students throughout the NSCS.
The keynote speaker for the event was “The Enthusiator” Aaron Davis, a motivational speaker and former member of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s national championship football team.
Event Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Education Judith Ruskamp said, “Faculty College provided an excellent opportunity to build relationships with our colleagues from all three campuses. The event presented an opportunity to explore new ideas, make new connections and renew energy for scholarly efforts and academic enterprises that will enrich both teaching and learning on each of the campuses.”
PSC’s Fred and Pam Robertson Honors Chair in Business Administration and Associate Business Professor Dr. Judy Grotrian said, “Faculty College was a wonderful opportunity to meet the other state college faculty, explore the beautiful campuses, and collaborate about educating students in the Nebraska State College System. It gave us the chance to expand and market our strengths and create ‘thousands of opportunities’ for our students.”
Chadron State College will host the event next spring.
