PSC Madrigal Singers to Present “An Evening of Musical Theatre” Tuesday, April 15
(Peru, Neb.) The Peru State College (PSC) Madrigal Singers will present “An Evening of Musical Theatre” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 in Benford Recital Hall, located in the Fine Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Thomas Ediger, music professor and director of choral activities at PSC, said, “Normally, the Madrigal Singers specialize in the singing of a cappella music from the Renaissance and Baroque Periods. This semester we are taking a break from our normal repertoire to perform some of the great music selections from Broadway.”
All of the music for the evening is by composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim. The Madrigal Ensemble will present medleys from Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods, as well as several songs from Sunday in the Park with George. Solos and duets from a variety of musicals by Sondheim will also be featured.
