Peru State College Choirs to Perform Concert Sunday, Feb. 24
(Peru, Neb.) The Peru State College (PSC) Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and Misty Blues Show Choir will perform a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 in the College Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.
The Concert Choir will open the program with their musical selections Antiphonal Alleluia by George Frederic Handel, Sanctus from the Mozart Requiem, Long Time Ago by Aaron Copland and the novelty selection Chorus of the Office Clerks by Jacque Offenbach.
The Madrigal Singers will then perform several traditional madrigals including Say, Love, if Ever Thou Didst Find by John Dowland, The Sound of Pipe and Drum by Pierre Certon and All at Once Well Met Fair Ladies by Thomas Weelkes.
The program will conclude with a performance by the Misty Blues Show Choir, featuring a variety of popular and Broadway selections. Pieces included in the program are Night Fever from Saturday Night Fever and Jelly’s Last Jam by Jelly Roll Morton, as well as Coffee in a Cardboard Cup and Everybody Rejoice from The Wiz.
The choirs are led by PSC Music Professor and Director of Choral Activities Dr. Thomas Ediger. Reva Benefiel, a senior community music and studio teaching major from Hamburg, Iowa, is the pianist.
