Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in college or private security or policing. Significant supervisory experience is desired. Must possess ability and willingness to work with students on a daily basis as student-focused initiatives are implemented. Effective public relations skills, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and leadership abilities are required. Ability to write and implement policies and procedures focused on student and campus safety is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel a must. Ability to make prompt decisions in emergency situations is required, as well as the ability to develop and implement training plans for security personnel and develop positive working relationships with external audiences. Valid driver's license required.
The Security Supervisor is directly responsible for the safety and security of students, faculty, staff and campus facilities through effective practices in campus security. Will hire, supervise and schedule security officers and develop effective, relevant training programs for security department staff. Will also perform duties of a security officer in addition to the supervisory duties. Will be responsible for the development of a cooperative relationship with external law enforcement agencies including local Sheriff's departments and the State Patrol. Will develop and coordinate the emergency management plan for the campus in conjunction with Student Life and College administration.
