Dr. Liz Kearney is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Peru State College. Her primary teaching responsibilities include teaching Early Childhood Education Courses and graduate classes in Curriculum and Classroom Management. She is also the counselor for Kappa Delta Pi, the educational honor society on campus.
Dr. Kearney earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York with a double major in English and Psychology as well as obtaining her teaching certificate. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of Alabama. She earned her doctorate in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Kearney has 32 years of experience in the P-12 system including 4 years as the associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction in Fort Wayne, IN and 14 years as an elementary principal.She has been a research assistant at the University of Nebraska and an adjunct professor for four years at the College of St. Mary. She also spent three years as Dean of Student Affairs at St. Mary of the Woods College.
Dr. Kearney is a senior consultant for Discipline with Purpose. She is a frequent presenter of teacher and parent training sessions on student behavior and discipline.
Dr. Kearney lives in Omaha, NE with her husband, Duane Gross, and her two children, Mary Kathleen and William.
