One Source Background Check Process – Student Teaching

Do not complete the background check until instructed to by the Director of Field Experiences. If you complete it too early, you will be required to pay for it again for the additional run within the time frame.

As part of your student teaching application, you are required to request a background check from One Source.  The cost to you will be $25, which you can either pay via credit card or by check.  Once the background check is completed, you will be evaluated based on the criteria identified by the Nebraska Department of Education in Rule 20, which is verified as part of certification.

This process will require you to provide information about yourself that will be used to complete the background check.  Once you provide the required information and identify you choice of payment, you will read and agree to the terms of the process, as identified by One Source.  This will complete your online request.

In addition to requesting the background check online, you must also print and complete the Nebraska Child Abuse form.  Click here to download the form. You will need to return the completed form to One Source, either via FAX, scanned email, or mail. 

The background check will be completed by One Source approximately two months prior to the beginning of your student teaching.  Should an issue arise as a result of the background check, the School of Education will contact you to discuss next steps.  If there are no issues, the School of Education will email you verifying that you have met this final requirement.
