Proctoring Information

As of fall 2010, Peru State College's policy is that each undergraduate course that is offered entirely online will feature a proctored final exam that substantially measures the extent the course's stated learning objectives are achieved. Online course syllabi will clearly state that regardless of grades earned previously, the proctored final exam must be passed in order to receive credit for the course.

A proctor is an objective person who administers examinations to students.  College policy requires that proctors be physically present with the student while they are completing examinations.  This policy is the College’s response to evolving federal regulations and best practices in assessment.  We will use this information to improve the quality of our programs.

Student Responsibilities
  • Log into Blackboard course, save the Proctor Form to your computer, complete it, and then resubmit it by using the Blackboard assignment link.  This needs to be completed no later than the end of the second week of classes.
  • Provide official photo identification (driver's license, military i.d., etc.) to the proctor before the examination will be administered. Examinations will not be administered without photo ID, and the proctor form on file.

Students who Reside Within a 60 Mile Radius of Campus

Students who reside within a 60 mile radius of the Peru State College main campus, the Peru State College Annex, or have a Lincoln, Neb. or Omaha, Neb. address will be required to use the proctoring services provided at these locations:

    • Main Campus:  600 Hoyt St. Peru, NE 68421 (1-888-258-5558)
    • Annex:  16405 Clay St. Bellevue, NE 68123 (1-888-258-5558)

Your address will be verified. Regardless of where you have your proctored examination, you must fill out a proctor form.

Students who Reside Outside of the 60 Mile Radius of Campus

Students who reside outside of the 60 mile radius of the Peru State College main campus or the Peru State College Annex, and do not have a Lincoln, Neb. or Omaha, Neb. address, may designate an alternate exam location with an external proctor.  Online students, who utilize an external proctor, must follow the guidelines indicated below.

These arrangements MUST be made no later than the end of the second week of classes. The Distance Education staff will verify and certify the proctor information.

An approved proctor shall be one of the following:

    1. An educator, counselor, librarian or administrator in any educational system
    2. A staff member, administrator or educator at a military education center (or senior military member) or an independent testing center (i.e., Sylvan Learning)
    3. A public librarian or a public library testing center staff member
    4. A corporate human resource professional

A proctor CANNOT be a relative, close personal friend, employee, co-worker, supervisor, or student.  Peru State College reserves the right to deny or terminate a proctor at any time, for any reason.  Students found to have violated this policy risk failing the course and other sanctions up to and including dismissal from the college.

    • The student must schedule the date, time and location of the examination directly with the approved proctor.  There must be a computer and Internet access to complete the examination and the exam needs to be completed in a public location. The student will need to verify the proctoring date and time with the proctor two days before the scheduled exam time.

    • The student is responsible for all applicable proctoring fees.
