| We are proud to offer a variety of educational opportunities via Blackboard, our online learning platform. Our online courses have the same outcomes and objectives as our courses which are offered on the Peru State College campus. We use Blackboard as our educational platform. You do not need additional software but are directed to a website which houses all of our online courses. Each online course will provide you with the same content as an in class course, the only difference is in the delivery.
Rather than taking the class on campus, where an instructor provides a lecture and discussion, Blackboard learning is delivered via the internet. You will have lectures, discussion questions, writing assignments, projects and tests. All work will be done online in either an eight week or sixteen week semester. The online course requires as much commitment to learning as does any on campus course. Online learning is flexible and convenient but also requires that you keep a study schedule, log into class on a regular basis, participate in discussion groups, ask questions of the other students and the instructor and maintain open lines of communications.
How do I access Blackboard?
To access a Blackboard course a student must have a computer, an approved Internet browser, internet access, and be enrolled.
Go to Blackboard’s site at: http://perustatecollege.blackboard.com
To log-in, you must have a username and password. If enrolled, you should receive this information through email from the Distance Education Department.
USERNAME: New User ID (NUID), no dashes or spaces
PASSWORD: Two-digit month and two-digit day of your birthdate (ex: July 1st is 0701)
To introduce Blackboard, we have created a demonstration course for prospective students. To
review the demonstration course, go to the Blackboard website:
http://perustatecollege.blackboard.com/. Log in using the username and password, both, as: peru
(all lowercase).
Once logged in, you may “surf” the course. It will give you an idea of what a typical Blackboard
course at Peru State College would look like. If you have any questions or concerns about the
demonstration course, please feel free to direct them to the Distance Education Office at 1-888-258-
5558 or at DistanceEducation@peru.edu. We would be happy to walk you through any
processes.
Technical Support
If you are using Blackboard and experience any technical issues, please contact Blackboard Tech Support by emailing BBtechsupport@peru.edu or calling the Tech Support line at (402) 274-8530.
