Bio:
Cassie Gottula Shaw is passionate about higher education. She graduated from Peru State College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, after which she committed to life-long learning. She graduated from the Gemological Institute of America with Diamonds and Colored Stones diplomas; she obtained TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certification; and she earned a Master of Arts degree from Baker University.

Cassie worked for five years as a property and casualty adjuster for the largest insurance company in the nation, specializing in policy and communication. Although she enjoyed the complex investigation and analysis of the business insurance environment, Cassie was called back to education.

She started working at Peru State during the summer of 2012, moving to the Retention Specialist role with Student Services in 2014. Cassie was responsible for overseeing institutional assessments, while she is also charged with the task of identifying retention challenges and potential solutions. The rewards of working with Peru State students, she notes, are unparalleled.

Cassie enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Brian. One will generally find them working on their acreage, watching films or football, dining on ethnic cuisine, or searching for adventure.
