CJUS 450 049Y Criminalistics
Brent currently serves as the sheriff of Nemaha County. This position allows for
the Brent to practice the various aspects of criminal justice on a daily basis and
bring that experience into the classroom. Besides administering a law enforcement
agency, Brent’s normal duties include the administration of a county jail as well
as overseeing the 24/7 operation of a 911/dispatch center.
Brent is a 1997 graduate of Peru State College where he earned his Bachelor of Science.
In 2010, he received in Master of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of Illinois.
He is a graduate of the National Sheriff’s Institute in Longmont, Colorado, a traffic
crash reconstructionist, and Standardized Field Sobriety Instructor. Brent assists
at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center with various classes at both the basic
and advanced levels.
Additional experience and training that Brent has includes firefighting, emergency
medical services and emergency management. These associated aspects of emergency
response provide a broad base of knowledge and experience with which to compare, contrast
and integrate the duties of law enforcement with affiliated emergency response agencies.
