Sara graduated from Peru State College with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology in 2013.
After Peru, she went on to Concordia University where she received a Masters Degree
in Human Services with an emphasis in Management and Leadership of Nonprofit Programs
in 2015. Following this Sara received a Masters Degree in Education - School Counseling
from the University of Nebraska Kearney in 2021, along with PK-12 School Counseling
Certification in the State of Nebraska.
Sara has spent most of her career working with youth of all ages and is passionate
about working with underserved populations. Sara is currently an Elementary School
Counselor for Westside Community Schools in Omaha, Nebraska. She has previously been
a middle school and high school counselor. Before school counseling, Sara did community
work with at-risk families, specifically geared towards access to early childhood
care and education. She has also spent a number of years working with teen parents
with goals to keep them in school and create better outcomes for their future and
their children. Sara also has experience working in group home settings with adolescents
facing mental health and behavioral challenges.
Outside of her work in education and counseling, Sara is also a dance and cheer coach,
as well as a Peru State College Cheerleading alumni.
Sara is a native of Beatrice, Nebraska, but currently lives in Omaha with her husband,
Wade. Wade is also a Peru alumni and a Peru Football alumni. He is currently a high
school football coach at Omaha Westside, but they both enjoy staying connected to
Peru through alumni opportunities. They have two children - Adeline and Charlotte.
