Bio:

Dr. Martinelli has been an online instructor for Peru State College since 2011 to date, teaching such classes as Introduction to Meteorology and Climatology and Introduction to Earth and Physical Science.

Dr. Jay Martinelli was born and raised in upstate NY. He was always fascinated with severe weather of any kind and knew from the time he was in kindergarten that he wanted to be a meteorologist. He earned his BS in Atmospheric Sciences from the State University of NY at Albany and his MS and PhD from Saint Louis University. After graduation, he moved to Omaha, NE where he began his career as an Atmospheric Sciences faculty member at Creighton University. He developed and taught many meteorology classes ranging from introductory to graduate level. After a few years at Creighton, Dr. Martinelli accepted a position with the Department of Defense as Meteorologist for the Air Force. His current position is in the 16th Weather Squadron where he is a member of the Numerical Models Team specializing in Data Assimilation.

Dr. Martinelli loves teaching and prides himself on delivering as personal an experience as possible for an online course. In his spare time, Dr. Martinelli loves to spend time with his wife and two children, run, lift weights, and is an avid Cubs fan!
