Bio:

R. Michelle Lee joined the School of Arts and Sciences in 2013.  Previously, she taught in the Department of English at the University of Oklahoma, where she received her Ph.D. in 2012.  Her specialization is in nineteenth-century Irish and English literature and gender studies.  Her current research is concerned with the political significance of popular literary genres, such as Gothic fictions, the national tale, and the fairy tale, and their contribution to imaginings of culturo-national identity and to the emerging movement toward an Irish national literature at the end of the nineteenth century.  Her teaching interests include Irish and English literature, the novel, modern and contemporary drama, and film.  Her work has appeared in Genre, Irish Studies Review, and Litteraria Pragensia.
