Cassandra Cox was born in Fairbury, Nebraska and has spent most of her life in the southeast corner of Nebraska. She attended Peru State College and participated on the cross country team for a year before focusing her time on tutoring. As a tutor at Peru State College she tutored every math course offered by Peru. She earned multiple tutor of the year awards. She fell in love with teaching others to not only understand but also enjoy mathematics, especially statistics.
While a student at Peru, Ms. Cox also worked as a mentor in the fusion program for three years and strived to never miss a home sporting event, especially football. She enjoyed supporting all of her friends in athletics, theatre, and music. Her years as a bobcat were some of the most memorable years of her life. Ms. Cox earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in May of 2014 from Peru State College.
After graduating from Peru she attended the University of Nebraska Omaha where she worked as a graduate teaching assistant while working toward her Master’s of Science in Mathematics degree which she completed in May of 2016. She then worked at the University of Nebraska Omaha for a year as the coordinator of Intermediate Algebra. During her year working at the University of Nebraska Omaha she gave birth to her daughter Kaylee. (Her most exciting moment since graduating as a bobcat!)
Ms. Cox is excited to be returning to Peru State College. She looks forward to cheering on the bobcats at home sporting events and supporting the music and theatre department. She hopes to show her students that all aspects of college life are important whether its academic or extracurricular.
