Bio:

Dr. Justin Pfeifer joined Peru State College in 2016. Prior to joining Peru State College, Dr. Pfeifer taught as a Visiting Instructor at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He has also instructed numerous courses at the University of Toledo in Ohio.

He received his Ph.D. in 2014 from the University of Toledo, where he studied Modern German History under Dr. Larry Wilcox. His academic interests concern identity politics, ideology, and war crimes in the Third Reich, especially as it relates to German soldiers fighting on the Eastern Front. He is currently revising his dissertation “The Soviet Union through German Eyes: Wehrmacht Identity, Nazi Propaganda, and the Eastern Front War, 1941-1945” for future publication consideration.

His teaching and research interests include Modern Europe, Modern World, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and East Asian history.
