Durant records double-double in non-conference loss

Bobcat BasketballMadison, SD – The Peru State College Men’s Basketball team wrapped up first semester action on Saturday as they took on Dakota State in their second match up of the year.


The first half saw each team battle back and forth with the Trojans taking a seven point lead going into halftime 37-30. In the second half, the Bobcats came out aggressive but a two minute period with the Trojans reeling off a 7-0 was a key point as Dakota State took an 86-78 victory.


Peru played one of their best games of the season as they shot 42% from the floor on 28 of 66, 34% from the arc on nine of 26, and 86% from the line on 13 of 15 shooting. The Trojans out rebounded the Bobcats 51-30 and shot 46 total free-throws in the game. Peru scored 31 points off 30 DSU turnovers but gave up 48 points in the paint.
Leading the Bobcats was senior Julius Durant who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Bobcats finished in double figures with Steven Burks adding 16 points, Matt Ryan 12 points, and Joe Gomez adding 10 points respectively.
