Entering his second season with the Bobcats, Coach Varley is no stranger to football or Peru State. He is retiring after 20 years of teaching math and coaching at nearby Nebraska City where he lead the Pioneers to 7 playoff appearances. Coach Varley has 34 years of coaching experience with the last 30 as an head coach. He is also recognized as one of the outstanding shot and disc coaches in the area. He will be teaching college prep math at Sidney Iowa Community Schools in addition to coaching the Bobcat offensive line. Varley's teams were known for their hard hitting style of play and hustle. That will continue to be a focus as he assumes the role of coaching the Bobcat O-line .
“The two areas in life that we have complete control over are our effort and our attitude. We expect to play with great effort and always have a positive attitude.”
