Crimson Storm takes two from Bobcats

Oklahoma City – The Peru State College Baseball team returned to action on Saturday to wrap up a four game road trip with a double header against Southern Nazarene University.


The Bobcats had to rally in game one from a 2-0 SNU lead after the second inning. Peru put a two spot on the board in the top of the fifth to tie the game up 2-2. The Cats added another run in the top of the sixth to take 3-2 lead but the Storm came back in the bottom of the sixth to add two more run for a 5-3 victory. Peru’s three runs came off four, committing three errors, and leaving four on base. Yimy Rodriguez picked up the loss for Peru as he threw five and a third innings facing 29 batters. He gave up five runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Tim Crawford threw two-thirds of an inning giving up one run while facing four batters.


The Bobcats were led by Mark Houch who had a two-run homerun in three plate appearances. Robert Last, Will Hays, and Ryan Baroudi each added a hit respectively.


Game two saw the Bobcats run out of gas as the Storm took the nightcap 10-0. Peru was held to just two hits while committing two errors in the game. Brenden Gentry and Mark Houck recorded a hit for the Cats. Shawn Staszczyk took the loss in the game after throwing four innings where he faced 24 batters. Staszczyk gave up seven runs on eight hits with one strikeout. Jon Sanley threw a third of an inning facing six batters giving up three runs on two hits.


The Bobcats move to 3-4 on the season.
