Bobcats Ink All-Region Jr. College Infielder
Peru, NE—Peru State College Head Baseball Coach, Jason Cronin, has announced the signing of Genesee Community College (NJCAA D-II) sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez. This past spring the 6’0” 195 lb. Gonzalez was named first team All-Region III along with receiving first team All-Conference honors. Gonzalez hit .349 with 11 doubles, 3 triples, 5 homeruns and 39 RBI this past year for Skip Sherman’s squad. Off the field Alejandro graduated with his AA degree while carrying a 3.31 GPA in the classroom. He was named to the President’s and Dean’s list for his efforts.
According to Coach Cronin, “Alex is a very good college baseball player and a fine young man. He made quite a move by coming to the United States from his home in Venezuela and to this point he has done nothing but succeed. We expect that will continue when he arrives on campus this fall. On the field, Alex will make the move back to 3rd base and he will provide depth at the shortstop position. Without a doubt his bat will fit right into the middle of our line-up and it gives us a much needed right handed stick. We are glad that he is joining our baseball family as he had offers from both the NCAA Division I and II levels. I would like to thank Coach Sherman for his continued support of our program by producing quality baseball players and young men.”
