Transition Services, housed on the top floor of the ARC, offers a wealth of career-related resources and services for PSC students. Whether seeking a life direction, guidance for adjusting to college life, specific career information, application/interview skills development, internship opportunities, or employment, students will benefit from Transition Services in the ARC.
Professionals working with a variety of assessment instruments help students find career pathways that suit their personal interests, values, and skills. Up-to-date publications and computerized career exploration programs offer easy access to detailed information on over a thousand different occupational titles — including typical activities, average salaries, and employment prospects.
Academic advising is available to assist students who have not yet decided upon a major. Students are guided through the selection of general coursework that will apply to any program of study. While acquiring transferable skills and exploring a variety of subject areas, students can take time to discover new areas of interest and consider potential academic and career paths.
Students who are on academic probation will also find the academic advising through Transition Services beneficial. Professional attention to the careful selection of courses and targeted guidance in study strategies fosters a successful academic recovery and a healthy transition to the college environment.
Students can take advantage of individualized assistance and free workshops for resume writing, application processes, interview skills, and job search. An interview room complete with a video camera provides a perfect setting for mock interviews, allowing students to polish their interview skills through professional feedback and self-critique.
Transition Services also offers credential file management services for all interested students as well as access to online job listings and interview opportunities.
