Dr. Daniel Hanson
Peru State College’s 33rd President
Dr. Daniel Hanson became the 33rd President of Peru State College on August 1, 2009.
Dr. Hanson joined the Peru State family after working more than 30 years at Waldorf College, a small private school in Forest City, Iowa. While at Waldorf, Dr. Hanson most recently served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. He held a number of other positions at the college, including Counselor and Assistant Director of Admissions, Associate Professor in the Division of Social Science, Chair of the Management Information Systems Department, and Director of Academic Computing.
Dr. Hanson holds a Bachelor’s degree in education from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa; a Master’s degree in education and computer science from Mankato State University in Mankato, Minn.; and a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. While completing his doctoral program, Dr. Hanson served as a research assistant at the Research Institute for Studies in Education and as a teaching assistant in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Hanson is married to his wife of 34 years, Elaine. They have two daughters: Heather, 24, who will graduate in December 2010 from the University of Iowa with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree; and Abby, 22, a first year graduate student in occupational therapy at Colorado State.
